We are a premier research center in
Southeast Asia dedicated to the
study of East Asia's interstate
relations and regional security as
well as international relations and
comparative politics more broadly in
an inter-disciplinary environment.
Located in the
Prajadhipok-Rambhaibarni building
amidst the beautiful Chulalongkorn
campus, you will find at ISIS a
lively academic community engaged in
cutting-edge projects. We have just
launched an American Studies Program
(ASP), with plans to set up a
similar ASEAN Studies Program. ISIS
is particularly interested in
comparative studies of internal
conflicts with reference to the
insurgency in Thailand's
southernmost border provinces. We
are a founding member of the
regional think-tank consortium,
ASEAN-ISIS, which groups together
leading research institutes from
ASEAN countries

Associate Professor Dr. Thitinan
Pongsudhirak is director of the
Institute, and since coming aboard
in 2006 has committed to further
enhancing the profile of ISIS
through a number of new initiatives,
including workshops, conferences,
publications, and visiting scholar
affiliations. ISIS also benefits
from the work and guidance of its
founder and past directors,
including Emeritus Professor Kusuma
Snitwongse and Emeritus Professor
Suchit Bunbongkarn. They and other
prominent scholars and practitioners
serve on our advisory and executive
boards. We invite you to explore our
newly-designed website to find out
more about us, our research, recent
publications, upcoming events, and
more. |
